RICHLAND COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL ENSEMBLES
Honors Wind Ensemble
The Honors Wind Ensemble is the premiere concert band at RCHS. This ensemble meets before school over the second through fourth quarters, starting at 7 AM. The Honors Wind Ensemble performs at festivals, competitions, occasionally goes on tour, and performs extensively within the community and at the high school.
This ensemble is the larger of the two concert bands and is a non-auditioned ensemble. The Wind Symphony is designed to create an enjoyable, educational experience for students that make music their focus, to those that are simply in the ensemble for the experience. The ensemble performs traditional standard and contemporary band repertoire.
RCHS Jazz Ensemble
The Jazz Ensemble is composed of our most experienced musicians. This band performs at festivals, jazz competitions, occasionally goes on tour, and performs extensively within the community and at the high school. The Jazz Ensemble's instrumentation includes 5 saxophones, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, and rhythm section. Musicians are expected to be able or willing to play multiple instruments as needed per the repertoire.
RCHS Jazz Lab Band
The Jazz Lab Band is where our advancing musicians learn how to play jazz, improvise, and most importantly, become accustomed to playing parts individually. The Jazz Lab Band performs at the high school and within the community. Instrumentation may vary, but will generally follow that of the traditional jazz band.
RCHS Jazz Combo
The Jazz Combo is composed of our most advanced jazz improvisers. Admittance to the Jazz Combo is by strict audition and formation of it is at the discretion of the Director of Bands, based upon current personnel.
This marching band consists of Richland County High School (RCHS) students. The Marching Tigers perform for entertainment at RCHS home football games, parades, and completes in marching band festivals. The instruments found within the Marching Tigers includes brass, woodwind, percussion instruments, as well as the color guard (also known as auxiliary).
The Marching Tigers meets during the first quarter each school year from 7-9:20 AM on Mondays through Fridays.
